History:
Geoffery Lewis Hooper was the only child of Sarah Lewis and Duncan Hooper. Sarah, a half-blood witch, had poor constitution and was in and out of St. Mungo's frequently during the first eight or so years of Geoff's life. His needs were often pushed aside for the greater and more immediate concern of her health - when, finally, she breathed her last and was laid to rest three weeks before Christmas.

Geoff doesn't remember much of the funeral. He recalls that it was a sobering experience, and for some reason he couldn't stop blubbering into his grandmother's knitted woollen jumper to the point where it actually got soaked through and she needed to remove it when they'd reached the comfort and warmth of indoors that it might dry. His father had very rarely been in his life, though he craved Duncan's attention and affection. After Sarah passed on, Duncan had her parents, Norah and Robert take Geoff in for the duration of the coming year. That year turned into two years, with Duncan visiting occasionally. And then three. And then four - and after that, Geoff gave up on the idea of ever living with his father again and developed his habit of continuous, persistent and unceasing whining.

Thankfully, life was not so tragic. Duncan had met someone and re-married, this time to a fellow muggle-born such as himself, whom he'd know from his years at Hogwarts. Geoff didn't mind her, per se. He hardly knew his mother well enough to know exactly what it was about her particular brand of motherhood he did not wish to see dishonored or replaced - but he did miss her. Nonetheless, he adopted Lynnette and the Hoopers functioned. Neither she nor Duncan managed to quite fill the hole that Geoff had been scarred with from his formative years, but it would be unfair to say that she did not at least try.

Significantly, what Lynette brought to Geoff's life was a sense of hope and joy in the little things. And though she could not cure him of the whining, accomplishing this much was a unforeseen accomplishment that allowed for Geoff to be the person he is today.

He was ready to board the Hogwarts Express for the first time in 1990 with much eager anticipation - was almost immediately sorted into Gryffindor, and lost no time in making friends. And although he had a bit of a dweebish quality to him, miraculously, he struck gold and landed friendships with the likes of Cormac McLaggen.

It wouldn't be fair to say that from that point on, Geoff coasted through Hogwarts. In all areas of his life at school, he encountered some issue or another. His laziness set him back in his academic success, and his irksome ways and lack of social grace lost him golden opportunities in social circles. But he still counts those years as his golden years and treasures them, for he felt like he actually belonged.

In the summer between his fourth and fifth year, Geoff managed to land a position as a junior sales clerk in the apothecary on Diagon Alley as owned by the Bobbin family. Although he was only working minimum wages at the time, he began to enjoy his position, and retained it for the following summer, and resumed it again once he graduated. Not knowing what to do otherwise, Geoff lingered, even during the war, until he gained a promotion that led him to his current position as Assistant Manager.

Somehow, and Geoff doesn't exactly know how, he managed to be fortunate enough to begin dating Johanna Dorny, a classmate of his from Ravenclaw. He clung to her. He tried to be sweet, but there was a high chance that he was instead smothering her. And yet, she stayed on. He thought maybe he was falling in love with her, but he really wasn't sure what love was supposed to feel like and couldn't tell. Nonetheless, he confessed his feelings to her, and gradually got better at saying it until it felt almost natural. But they were surrounded by a war, and blood purity was becoming some grand issue, and suddenly -- they were broken up, Johanna was in Azkaban. Lynette was in Azkaban. Duncan was in Azkaban. And Geoff was alone in a big, empty house with his job at the apothecary and little else to do but worry and try to keep his spirits up just a little bit, somehow.

When his family, and his former girlfriend, were released - he was overjoyed and again, tried to be supportive. He visited them all in hospital, but it became clear that what each really needed was space. Lynette was the first to show signs of recovery, but Geoff has had to deal with a number of battles with Duncan - including a frightening dependence on alcohol that eventually saw Geoff move out in a drastic move after a fist fight, none of which Duncan is able to recall.

And as for Johanna? Well. He's since mostly given up hope, but he wishes her well - though he is rather awkward in her presence.
Personality:
The best way to describe Mr. Geoffrey Hooper is as a puppy. A lost, little puppy that knows no bounds - yaps at your feet, whines constantly for attention - and when he gets it, races about in excited triumph. He's not a simple soul, as such. In fact, his personality actually consists of a number of rather complicated layers very deeply rooted in his upbringing and exposure to his environment.

Geoffrey, like every other human being, craves attention - but his deprivation of it in his childhood means that his is not just the average craving, but a very deep and unsatisfied yearning for it. As a result, he is prone to doing or saying stupid things in order to get it. He has an annoyance factor built on the surface of his personality that is seemingly limitless. He tends to whine at any and every given opportunity, is much too lazy to use his own brain and therefore has learned to depend on everyone else's and is now prone to asking inane questions merely because he could not be bothered to do his homework.

However, despite all this, there are some decent qualities to Geoff. He is persistent to the end, and would go to any and all lengths in order to get things done. He has an enthusiastic quality about him that is almost infectious, and his philosophy isn't nearly as pessimistic as his whining might otherwise prove. He tries to be honest, but finds himself bullshitting to get himself out of sticky situations - something that happens rather often, unfortunately. But he's a loyal friend. He lends his support where he can, even when it's completely unappreciated.

Geoff needs to learn when to back off, when to be tactful, and when to quit whining. But like a puppy, he has a sweet nature to him and does make an alright companion. If not a very cool, and a rather tedious one to be around. He flirts fairly openly and his taste is fairly wide - so it is not uncommon for girls around him, including those whom he has been friends with for a long time, to suddenly find themselves confronted with, what he believes at least, his charming and flirtatious persona. If anything, you could comend him on his confidence.

Occupation: Assistant Store Manager at Melinda Bobbin's Apothecary

What does your character value the most?
Probably the years he had in Hogwarts. It was like finding a place where he felt like he actually belonged and he almost wishes he could have those years back all over again - and not to change them, but to relive them as they were. Although, maybe with a few more snogs, girlfriends and dates.

What does your character regret?
Not getting onto the Gryffindor Quidditch Team after all.

What is your character proud of?
He's proud of his little accomplishments. Anything from success at work in sales, to successfully opening a frustratingly difficult wrapper. Geoff's a fan of smelling the roses, figuratively speaking.

If you had to sum your character up into a stereotype, what would it be and why?
The Wannabe, Oblivious Loser. Geoff tries a little too hard to please, but it's pretty obvious that whilst the cool kids might tolerate his presence or even enjoy it to some extent, he's never going to be in the same bar as they are - it's just that Geoff's the only one who hasn't cottoned on.

What do you believe your character will offer to the game?
Comic relief, exasperation and generation of communal mocking directed towards him!
